I’ve used Chi flatirons for about five years now and have never been disappointed. This one heats up quickly, is wide enough for longer hair, and stays hot.

She uses it very frequently and seems to love it. She has wildly curly hair, and the chi definitely calms the curls!

After my girlfriend casually mentioned needing a hair straightener on numerous occasions, I finally decided to pull the trigger and just get her one. I did what most men would do and referred immediately to the reviews of said straighteners. After a good bit of research I settled on the “Remington S-8400 2 1/4″ TStudio Tourmaline Ceramic Straightener.” Reviews for this straightener were awesome, plus it was roughly $60 less than the Chi. Not having any experience with these things, I assumed this was good enough. I think most men would be with me on this equation: we read that other people liked it + it isn’t unnecessarily expensive = it would make her happy, thus scoring me points. What a fool….

After informing my gf of the purchase, she gave me the “Oh that was so nice of you.” Those of us perceptive enough to pick up on this know that really means “You should have had me with you/consulted me before making this purchase.” After a thorough explanation that informed me that by paying 3 times as much for a brand I’d never heard of (Remington made a sweet face razor I used for like 6 years), I would be virtually guaranteeing the straightener to work FOREVER and she’ll never have to buy one again.

I bought the CHI, completely ignoring my rational/logical instincts. After we received it, she was overjoyed mentioning time and again how well it worked. The straightener worked great (she has medium thickness hair, not real curly) for 3 and 1/2 weeks. Then, it just stopped working, all together. No lights, no heat, no straightener, no money back. After just explaining to her that I was writing this review, she said, “Oh yeah, i really need a new one. I found a good price on the same one online the other day.” I nearly lost it. DO NOT BUY – OVERPRICED JUNK.

This straightner was not at all like I thought it would be. It did not get very hot and as soon as you would start to straighten it, the temp would go down. I have very curly hair, and I have always bought the Solia straightner and it worked great, but I thought that since this was a CHI it would work alot better. It did not work at all, and I would not buy this product again.
